The South Korean government has banned the use of military drones, in an unprecedented move.
The announcement was made in April as part of an agreement with the US, but the decision is unprecedented and could have major repercussions.
South Korea has long denied reports that it buys drones for the army from China.
The issue of drones has caused problems for the South’s President Park Geun Hye, who is being investigated over alleged corruption and influence-peddling.
Last week’s ban follows a crackdown on the use of commercial unmanned planes in South Korea after a video recording of a drone flying over a Seoul shopping centre, which was released in August, sparked outrage.

The military drones used in South Korea to keep tabs on the North have caused problems for the President too – in June she said there could be no more aerial surveillance without a warrant.
The South Korean government has maintained that it is merely trying to protect national security.
However, the latest announcement is a warning to the US that South Korea would continue to refuse to sell the weapons.
It will also make it even more difficult to persuade Seoul to renew the deployment of Thaad, the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system, to counter North Korea’s missiles and nuclear tests, analysts say.

The US maintains that South Korea can operate its drones, in spite of the ban, and has asked Beijing to consider it a bilateral issue without China’s backing.
Mr Lee Yong Ho, a South Korean lawmaker with opposition party Minjoo Party, told reporters South Korea is “doing whatever it must”.
South Korea’s decision had a “negative” effect on Washington’s efforts to push an amendment to a US-backed arms control treaty, he added.
