I’d recommend going to one of the most prominent paint shops in town or having a local painting instructor teach you. You may not know someone or be able to afford them, but it’s not hard to find a person who is willing to show you how.
In addition to painting, many artists paint other things such as food or housewares, creating works of art that you’re welcome to hang in your home.
Are you a certified instructor or do you know another instructor from the state?
In our state, there is a limited number of certified instructors. We use a system that ensures that each instructor is qualified to teach a particular class, but we can’t guarantee that your class will be certified. If you’re looking for a instructor, we recommend contacting another local painter or painter’s teacher to see if there’s someone in your area who might be qualified for your class.
Please note that you must take the Paint Your Own Painting class to graduate.
What happens if I don’t like my class?
We love to see everyone’s paintings as we’re always on the lookout to give people another opportunity to learn. But if you’re not pleased after one class, send it back at any time. If you don’t like your instructor’s instructions, feel free to try another one.

Jurors were unable to reach a verdict in the case of James Wilson, who claimed he had feared for his life and called police while trying to help his client, who was shot six times while running from deputies Friday night, court records show.
Wilson, an eight-year veteran of the Illinois State Police, was found guilty of murder, attempted murder in the shooting of James Lewis Kincaid, 35, of West Englewood, and two counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm with intent to kill, prosecutors said. The shootings, which were still under investigation, left the West Side man dead.
“There was no doubt that there was a threat of death that took place,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeff A. Smith said at a morning news conference. “He did not feel his life was in danger at any time.”
Prosecutors said Kincaid had turned the corner from the sheriff’s office parking lot on the 300 block of West 57th Street when Wilson ran toward him, with his right hand raised. Kinc
