And do we have to buy all that shit for less than a hundred dollars?
“For our first batch, we made our decision very early: We wouldn’t sell new items that were not made with the same processes, and we wouldn’t use other manufacturers for our pieces. This choice wasn’t the only one to be made. For a long period, our products were made without any help and support at all from manufacturers like CNC, CNC routers, CNC cutter, CNC lathe, CNC laser cutters, and CNC press. At the end, we realized how much more difficult it would be to manufacture from scratch with just our own skills and tools. We started making parts for our project based on the knowledge that we would be using machines that were not made under the same kind of stress conditions as those used to manufacture our products. We decided to give up on the idea that we could make the new items ourselves, in-house, with little to no support.
To ensure the longevity of the components we built and the quality for which we were willing to pay, we will not be purchasing or developing new equipment made with traditional machineries for the future.”
If you’re unfamiliar with the CNC Industry, we would recommend taking in a few days of CNC classes.
“I don’t know the CNC community,” says one new investor. He would prefer not to name names but we are going to call him “J.T.”
“I am a big proponent of open source development. In my opinion, it is a lot of work to get it working, but the payoff has been far greater than we ever thought.”
“Open source development is the most powerful, simplest and most innovative part of the entire CNC industry. I love it.”
It looks like all these investors like to make it clear that they are not in any way endorsing using CNC routers (read: cheap) for their projects or making anything at all from their own machines. As a CNC machinist and engineer I fully understand this line of thinking and I find it absolutely ridiculous. Let’s face it, anyone who tries to make anything in a CNC machine is looking at it with eyes of gold and thinks it will make it, in part, better because it will be cheaper and in effect use less material. Let’s face it, the more CNC machined a product is, the less we see in it that is useful. If you want to
