That will be your answer. You’ll want to avoid the spray cans with these because they’re a mess, and there’s a chance that you could end up with paint on the floor.
Aeropackages are another viable option, and are a lot more expensive (but they’ve never been known to kill anyone, so who cares?). However, unless you have a whole mess of these in your attic, your paint will likely be covered with something other than actual paint, so you shouldn’t care too much.
You’ll also want to consider a liquid primer, or a coat of sealer. They look a lot more aesthetically lovely and look like they’ll last longer because they actually have primer in them. But this does come at a cost. Primers can also be quite messy for people with sensitive noses and eyes, and there’s a good chance that they’ll make you sick if you breathe in any of the very fine particles that are left on the painted surface. Sealers, on the other hand, can be made in spray cans, and usually should not make you sick. (Even if they make you sick in one instance, you probably won’t get sick in another!)
Finally, you might want to consider coating your ceiling tiles, too. They’re not as durable as paint and will only last a few years, but they’re a nice, quick DIY option.
Finally, don’t try to paint your own ceiling until you absolutely, positively know all of your neighbors are safe from roofing screws. Don’t use them to start a fire!
