This month, we’d like to offer a bit of a cheat sheet to help you navigate your harvest. Please keep in mind that these tips will cover most of the options you will have to choose from when picking your saffron.

Get your saffron on the right scale : There is a lot of confusion in the market about actual weight and size of saffron. This is because manufacturers often use a scale that is based on pure weight (which does not give you any measurement for the size). While these scales may give a rough idea of size, they are not the best. If you are cutting at home or are going with a vendor, try to get a scale with which you can measure the length of the saffron flower itself (which is always smaller than the flower). Otherwise, the flower will not be evenly trimmed and the cut too thin and too big, which won’t give you a good
