Cherub: No. Because it can smell, and people like it. And it’s really a lot of rosin. A lot of it. If you have too much of it on your bow, it’s kind of weird.
So, when you’re making a bow?
Cherub: It’s a really big process. The process is a lot of hand work and a lot of experimentation and a lot of prayer and a lot of trial and error.
Okay. I see. So how long has this been going on?
Cherub: Right now, it’s been going on since the 1980s. It’s a small bow. I don’t make a lot of bows, but just for fun, I did a bow to celebrate my birthday.
Cherub: Yeah, I was in Mexico in January and it was freezing. It was cold, you know? So I was making a bow for myself, and I got really big hands. So I got really big hands making the bow. And I didn’t have much experience making bows, so I didn’t know how to handle the bigger hands. So it was really a lot of trials and errors.
It must have been hard to go on when you were so handsy.
Cherub: Yes. So, so there were two little bows, two little bowstrings. And then I had the big one and I was doing the big one, and then I did the big one, and I made an old bow, which was really cool. But then I had this little bow, the older bow, and then I tried to make it for the kid who came to my house and tried to make an arrow. I was like OK, I might never have an arrow, so I went back.
He actually did. I made the arrow for him.
Cherub: It’s a huge honor.
What did he think of it?
Cherub: He was so upset and so surprised, and I was so proud of him.
I’m really glad you were so proud of him!
Cherub: Well, the kid has a really good arrow. We went out there and we did shooting and we shot, and we were just so proud of him.
So, you get so proud of yourself when you make it, and
