The best price is probably in 4k with an interchangeable lens camera. 4k is more expensive than HD and has a higher price. Most 4k cameras have a 1.6X crop factor to fit the screen. The biggest problem is with lenses, so keep in mind that, for a good set of lenses you will need an external lens mount and also at least 2 camera controllers.
If you want to go cheap and have no worries of having to get expensive lens kits, try to get a good value camera such as a Nikon D2, D3, D3x, D200, D5, D700 or D800. While you can get them cheaper, at this price range you can still get a fantastic image quality for only a fraction of the cost.
