How do you record a video? – Dop Course

There’s a number of ways to shoot a video in Unity. The easiest way is to open your project, go to File > Export > Asset, and then click on the option “Export to” and select a video. This will export the video to an MP4 file that is in the same format as your .mov. You can do this in the Asset inspector. Then you can upload this file to the Unity Asset Store and use Unity’s built-in video editor, which takes care of the rest.

Another way is to use the built-in video tools to record you video.

The built-in video editor is available through Unity’s Asset store in the “Video” section.

Why do you need an external software on top of the Unity Editor instead of the built-in video editor?

Unity’s video mode has some limitations. First of all, you may have to wait for a little while for an external video engine to download a file or two to your computer. Also, Unity may not allow you to capture live gameplay footage and then replay it using the built-in video editor.

Can you record video in 3D, or is that only possible in the Unity browser?

This is probably the best way to record video in Unity. After downloading the “Unity Audio” assets as shown in the previous section, you can export them to a video file. You’ll capture the video from the Asset Store, and use Unity’s built-in video editor to replay it using the built-in video editor.

Why have I to download both the video editor and video player?

Unity only has one file format at the moment. So any video you create in the editor, that you use in your Unity game, will work only with the Unity
