After a few bad results in the previous editions of the tournament in Korea and France, the European team decided to try to get better. Now is their chance to show what they can do at a major.
The CS:GO Major is taking place in the Swedish city of Malmö the 6th-11th of February. We take a look at the teams that can represent Sweden at the tournament.
1. fnatic
The Swedish squad is one of few Swedish teams to make some kind of appearance at such an event. They did make a run in ESL ESEA Season 14’s playoffs, but lost to Virtus.pro in a single map series in the quarterfinals. Despite all the disappointing defeats in these tournaments, they still managed to finish fifth at ESEA Season 15.
fnatic is a team that plays a relatively aggressive style, but also has many other strong players. Their star player, Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz, is considered one of the strongest players in the world. To say he’s one of the best is a very unfair statement, but he’s just that good. He’s always up there in his role and always has a chance to make something happen.
Another strong member is Nicolai “device” Reedtz. His leadership is the first thing that stands out, his consistency makes things that much easier on himself. As he said in his interview in ESL ESEA Season 14, this doesn’t happen often! I think he can be the captain of fnatic once again this time.

2. FlipSid3 Tactics
After getting eliminated at the ELEAGUE Major in July, the Russian squad decided to get back to form. When facing the Swedish squad at the DreamHack Cluj Major, they dominated their round one, as they did at most previous Majors.
However, once again they lost to FlipSid3, just like they did in the ESEA Season 14 playoffs. It was only when they were eliminated in an overtime against Virtus.
