All of the features we use (i.e. pause, play/rec, skip, shuffle, etc) are provided by audio-tagging the page. For each player, that requires a unique URL (see below). Therefore, to add audio-tagging for YouTube as you are playing, simply create a new page (see below), and add the appropriate “audio-tagging” tag there.
In order for the audio-tagging tag to stay up-to-date in the YouTube API, your page needs to be registered with the YouTube API (in the “register a website” step above). Note: if your page is too long, or too short, to fit the “youtube.com” space, or both, then do not use the tag at all.
Note also, that the above steps show a page, instead of an audio tag (and they don’t have to be in HTML to work).
How do I register a website with the YouTube API?
Once you’ve set up the correct audio-tagging tag for your page, you’ll need to add it to your site’s “weblink” file by visiting the “register a website” on your site and selecting “add a website”. On the next page, you will then need to enter the URL and optionally the domain name of the website that you’d like to add the tag to (such as YouTube.com, which you could use for your own domain).
Note: there is no need to register your site, simply add the audio-tagging tag to your page and it will be tracked and used the next time you view a video from the API. (It is optional to register the site, but recommended!)
How do I use the API to change the audio volume?
For music-based YouTube, you can use the playlist API to change the audio volume. You must give the playlist enough information (as detailed via the API below) to correctly change the audio volume.
Here’s how to do this using the Music API:
Go to the API, and then the “playlist” tab. Click the plus icon, and then “Add”. Enter the audio tag value that YouTube wants your page to use: “YouTube.com/playlist/123123” in your case. Then, scroll all the way down to the play/pause button. Click the “Play/Pause…” key. It should open up a
