I found that using color with the background is usually enough. For example, when I am drawing with Photoshop, I prefer to use white on the background (which is not a lot of use on real life pictures) to see the shape in the picture.
To do this, take the following steps:
Make white something that is not very bright (light brown is the easiest one) or darker for the background. The darker color should be not too dark for the background. For black, I used something with lots of contrast. For white, I used something similar but a little lighter.
When you get a good picture, the background should be made black, black and transparent.

This isn’t an option. If I am trying to draw with a brush, it is a very important thing that I set. When you are working with paint.NET or Photoshop Elements, it’s very easy to use brushes to apply a color. I find that the color with the brush gives a different look and feel to the drawing.
For example when I draw with brush, if I only have the red color on the brush, the drawing looks like if I just put a red dot on the canvas.
