Are phone cameras better than DSLR? – Types Of Videography

They are not. While the photo quality can be improved, that is not the question. The real question is: Can you use a smartphone on a DSLR? I see a lot of confusion around this question.

You do not have the same image quality on a smartphone as you do on a DSLR. Yes, both can capture better images but only for a limited amount of time.

The difference of photo is mainly related to resolution. Higher resolution photos can be easily processed, even if the processing happens at an angle. DSLR cannot process image to resolution such as 8 megabit, 4.7 megabit etc.

When you have a larger image there is less resolution available. And when resolution of smaller images is not really that important, what really matters is resolution when you need to do quick edits.

As the example that I use is the iPhone 6 Plus, the resolution when it is cropped is not that big on the screen. So you can see on the iPhone 6 Plus that photo is already fine even before the crop was done.

There is no need to crop that photo but some mobile camera can easily do it. So there is no reason why a DSLR cannot do it.

But still no point in using smartphone as your camera. Most of the time, if a photographer wants to take a picture, he will need to buy a DSLR. So if you have a DSLR camera, you do not have to buy camera on a smartphone for instant access.

Also you can use the smartphone as a digital SLR and there is no need to worry about the image quality of the handheld camera, so even if the picture looks bad, it is still not a problem.
