How can I learn dance at home? – Shakira El Masri

The Dance Studio is designed as a family friendly space, offering a safe and fun place for you and your kids to dance. We will teach you to make simple, functional, and fun moves, while encouraging you to practice and perfect each step. As you progress, you will learn how to incorporate these basic steps into your regular dance moves.

Are there any age categories?

All ages are welcome to the Studio. Please keep the following in mind if you are under the age of 13 or 14:

You are NOT allowed at the Studio with a child who is wearing a costume.

We will NOT teach children to “walk” like they normally do or to use a dance partner. This is for your own good and to ensure that you stay safe.

We do have a “Kids Zone” where we will let our children roam free, but as always, be aware of your child’s behavior. It is very important that everyone who comes in contact with you understands that they will be observed and supervised.

The Studio is NOT for a child with a disability.

Is there anything else I should know?

The Studio is meant to be fun. We are NOT designed to be a place where you have to wait long at the end of a set. As a student, you have the choice of whether or not you want to stay until the end.

Please note that the “Children Zone” and all areas in the Studio have rules, including:

There is a “Kids Zone” only outside the Studio.

In the Kitchen: There must be space for one child to move about the kitchen with the rest of the Kitchen.

In the Lounge: There must be at least one child of an age-appropriate size for each child.

In the Kitchen: No “walking” may take place. This takes the focus away from one of the most important things in a child’s life – the food.

In the Lounge: There must be at least one child of an age-appropriate size for each child.

The Dance Studio will provide a “Do I Know This Dance Well” test on the first day of class to determine if you’re a good fit for a class, but there are no requirements for passing.

If you find yourself in an emergency and do not have a spot available to dance, please contact a member of staff as soon as possible.
